Gave a talk last night to the 78th A.R.E. Congress

The 78th Congress of Members of the A.R.E. asked me to give a talk on meditation and "The Kingdom Within." It was like preaching to the choir, for most all of them had years and years of seeking with prayer and meditation. But we all enjoyed reviewing the great teachings from Scripture and Edgar Cayce's discourses on the nature and pathway to the Kingdom Within.
When you think about it, this concept is very difficult for physical being to grasp: somewhere within us is the Kingdom of God?? We've completely explored the human body and brain, so where is it?? But as most of us knew last night, it is within our heart (not the pump) and mind. Here are some of the Cayce readings we shared:
“All that you may learn of the Father God is already within self. For your body is indeed the temple of the living God, and as you meet Him there you may gain in your own consciousness the satisfaction of walking and talking with Him. When these consciousnesses are yours and you are one with Him, then indeed may you see that the kingdom of heaven dwells within.” (EC 5155-1)
“Know that your body is the temple of the living God; there you may seek communion. There you may seek counsel as to the choices to be made, the directions to be taken.” (EC 622-6)
“This is a promise to you, to each soul; yet each soul must of itself find that answer within self. For indeed the body is the temple of the living God. There He has promised to meet you; there He does. And as your body, your mind, your soul is attuned to that divine that answers within, so may you indeed be quickened to know His purpose; and you may fill that purpose for which you entered this experience.” (622-6)
“He has promised. 'If you will but open the door of your consciousness, of your heart, I will enter and abide with you.' This is not a fancy; this is not hearsay. You may experience such. For it is the law, it is the way, it is LIFE itself!” (EC 1632-2)
“Seek and you shall find. Not without but from within. For in thine own temple He has promised to meet you.” (EC 2677-1)

  1. Can you expand on "His purpose" vs. "that purpose for which you entered this experience?"
I'm of the opinion that "His purpose" is much simplier and broader than is generally thought.

  2. Okay, I'd hoped this would be a little livelier, so I'm going to post to see if we can kick it off some.
First, a question: is there a way to tell when new comments are added without going through each post and looking?
Second, I'll say that I'm not getting it very well. My mind just doesn't want to get quiet. Even if I can shut out thoughts, it will keep me entertained with little snatches of music, played over and over and over again. I think this is called roof-brain chatter, and it's tenacious.
So somebody tell me how to shut it down.
Also, I come out of meditation feeling stunned and dazed. What's that all about?
    Peace and Love.

  3. hi john and everybody
i wanted to post my recient meditation experiences. i am using the meditation session from the dvd set, (be still and know god) and i extended the silent time to about 30 minutes. the first day i heard a voice that i know as the voice of jesus saying " have no fear in coming to me", the second day i heard the same voice saying the same thing and i visualised jesus as i kwow him and could see the image of jesus and i in conciousness moved towards him and got to about 30 feet when the suggestion to wake came on. today i did the same thing and i could not see jesus but as the meditation went on i could see all my earthly concerns and worries as they passed and moved as clouds move to allow the sun to shine through i could see my image of jesus still about 30 feet away. my concerns (fears) were blocking the way. but by the time i started to see jesus the suggestion to wake up came on and ill try again tomorrow.

  4. i need to add that on the first day that i heard jesus, when i finished the meditation i went into my bedroom and found on my bed a crucifix with jesus on it. this is remarkable because i make my bed every morning and shake out the sheets when i do it so there is no way under normal circumstances that this could happen. and it was perfecly straight up and down.

  5. hi everbody
i want to post todays meditation experience. once doing the exercises and breathing and ohm chants i now visualise jesus, ( using the imaginative forces) without being told not to fear. this time when i did it he extended his hand i took it and was transported to what looked like the last suupper. there were others there but i didnt recognize anyone but jesus. on the table were 6 or 7 small goblets similar looking to the holy grail chalice. all but one were standing. i had to look at the painting to be sure there was a tablecloth in it because i saw a tablecloth in the meditation. we all drank. also i have been having alot of problems with allergies this year so i asked HIM to put his hands on me and he did, i could feel hands on my lungs as i was in meditation. as teh meditation went on i lost the images and had to repeatedly get myself back to them. what was seperating me from HIM was my earthly concerns which appeared as things which were blocking my view of HIM. also in this meditation i was able to connect with my heart center and HE was there also and my earthly concerns were blocking my hearts light also. when the suggestions for returning came on i realized just how much energy i had in my head and distributed it as suggested, even though i did this it took a good half hour for me to get back to "normal" or normal functioning in the third dimensional body. also i am aware that my connection with HIM will lead me to the creator. i even tried to visualize that but i didnt get very far. HE will lead me there when im ready.

  6. "His Purpose" - I agree. His purpose for which we entered this experience is simple and two-fold: soul growth and service to others. The first is Cayce's body, mind, spirit improvement process during an incarnation. The second is that we are channels of God's light and love in this world, and we should use our incarnation to make the world a better place for us having lived in it.

  7. Eddie's experiences with the crucifix, goblets, and healing: Over the years of meditating and dreaming, I too have had encounters with Jesus. I believe he is very active in the soul growth of everyone who is seeking. You might consider some of these images as symbols of stages in your growth and fore-shadowings of coming situations. The goblets may be symbols for your chakras (6 to 7), all standing except one, drinking from them with Jesus. The crucifix could certainly symbolize the cross you've been bearing with allergies or some other circumstances. Remember how St. Paul carried a physical burden during his incarnation. This could also be a symbolic reminder that the path to reunion with God includes sacrifices. Cayce said: "Crucify desire in self that your real potential may come through." And he often gave the little phrase: "Not my will Father but Thy will be done in and through me."

  8. I asked about "His purpose" because of what I suppose is a pet peeve. People talk so much about finding God's purpose in their life that when I hear it I want to scream, "Look God gave you the stream now it's up to you to paddle your own canoe!"
